Elevator Fun

I went to  LA’s Largest Business Networking Mixer the other week at the Shrine Auditorium.  Huge Expos are just like Disneyland for me! Not only did I meet a couple of my online friends but I met LOTS of brand-new associates, and found some brand new networking groups for the calendar. In any case a funny thing happened on the way to the vehicle  I had parked on the top floor of the building (got a wonderful photo of the Los Angeles ) and at the completion of the expo, when a quite a few of us got on the elevator what do you think happened? Not anything! We all stood there like mannequins staring at each other. Well I thought quickly, so I said..”OKEverybody exchange business cards! Which one of you wants to give their bestElevator Speech? Do’s & Don’ts For The Networking Jobseeker

As Governor Schwarzenegger puts it, the “Good, Bad & the Ugly” of the Calif budget issue has been decided and it occurs like massive layoffs are expected here. The “trickle-down economics” of that means your business networking events are going to have visits from a higher number people looking for jobs, pink “slip mixers” and career expos than ever before (assuming there are still jobs to be had). In emails I’ve exchanged with networking groups everywhere, they tell me that they are all seeing a up stat in the amount of attendees who list themselves as “In Transition”.  Many of these people haven’t been networking for a while.
